Dear __________,
While searching the “Employer Name” jobs website, I was pleased to see an open position for a “Name of Position” at “Employer Name”. I believe my education and experience offers unique qualifications which match quite well, the qualities you seek for this position. I welcome the opportunity to contribute to your team’s efforts to create engaging physics agendi and research projects. As a graduate student currently at “Name of University”, graduating in “Month/day/Year” with my Ph.D. in atomic, and optical physics, I have extensive experience writing, presenting and lecturing to a variety of audiences. Furthermore, I am enthusiastic about the design and implementation of research experiments.
In graduate school, my studies included laser optics, and thin film engineering. My thesis involves growth of nanostructures by self assembly. By conducting such an interdisciplinary project, I have learned nano techniques, designed optical lasers, and investigated the theoretical and experimental features of various quantum effects. Furthermore, I enjoy studying how many different subjects fit together in a coherent physical picture. As a regular reader of journals and pre-prints and an active participant at various conferences, I remain informed about cutting-edge research both within and outside of my own research specialization.
My teaching experience includes advanced classes for most of my graduate career. Here, communicating sometimes-complicated ideas at just the right level is key. I have also participated in several outreach programs, including Diversity in Science, for which I presented my thesis research. I am eager to work within a team setting discussing ground-breaking physics. I welcome the opportunity to discuss how my talents, passion and experience could contribute to the mission of “Employer Name”. In addition, please find my resume attached.
Sincerely,
Chris Doe
