Walter was a brilliant scientist, but also a gentleman and wonderful mentor and friend. His memory will be cherished by all who had contact with him through the years.

Cape Breton will miss Walter. Walter was the owner of a beautiful piece of Cape Breton coastline and donated it to the NS Nature Trust. A brilliant scientists and a true humanitarian.
